The 2008 Arizona Winter School will be on

   Special Functions and Transcendence

and will take place March 15-19, 2008 at the University of Arizona
in Tucson.  The lecturers and their topics are

  * Frits Beukers, Arithmetic of values of E- and G-functions
  * Dale Brownawell, Independence in positive characteristic
  * Paula Tretkoff, Transcendence of special values of modular and
      hypergeometric functions
  * Michel Waldschmidt, An introduction to irrationality and
      transcendence methods

Applications for students seeking funding and for students who would like
to work in a small group project with one of the lecturers are due
January 11, 2008.  For further details, see the conference website at

The funding application (for students) and registration form (for 
non-students) are now available on the website.
